Ignacio R. Ipharraguerre
was honored with the 2001 Hubbard Feeds, Inc. Graduate Award for Dairy at the
American Society of Animal Science Awards ceremony in Indianapolis on Friday,
July 27. This award recognizes students
demonstrating outstanding potential in the research of nutritional sciences of
food animals, specifically in the areas of beef, dairy, swine and poultry
production.
A native of Argentina,
Ipharraguerre holds a B.S. degree with honors from the Universidad of Buenos
Aires, where he received the Agronomic Academic Excellence Award by the
University and Dow Elanco of Argentina for his research on nutrient
supplementation to dairy cows grazing pasture.
He is currently working on his M.S. at the University of Illinois under
the supervision of Dr. Jimmy Clark and is investigating the maximum amount of
concentrate that can be replaced with soyhulls in dairy cows diet. He will
continue at Illinois for his Ph.D. concentrating on the amount and proportion
of ruminally degradable and undegradable protein required by dairy cows.
