Olson received 2001 Fellow Award for Industry Work
Dr. William A. Olson was honored at the annual American Society of Animal Science with the 2001 Fellow Award for Industry on Friday, July 27. The Fellow Award recognizes ASAS members for their distinguished service to the animal industry for 25 years or more. Each nominee must have made exceptional contributions to the animal industry, to an animal related discipline, or to ASAS; must have had continuous professional membership in ASAS for a minimum of 25 years; and must be in good standing with the Society.
As a member of the ASAS since 1958, Olson has established a brilliant career in industry and has given a tremendous amount of service to the ASAS as a long-term member of the Regulatory Agencies Committee. Currently, he serves as a charter member of the FASS Committee on Food Safety, Animal Drugs, and Animal Health.
Throughout his career, Olson worked as a research nutritionist for Pfizer Inc., SmithKline & French Laboratories, and Hazleton Laboratories before starting his own consulting firm in 1973. The Center for Regulatory Services is dedicated to providing consultation to industry in meeting the regulatory requirements of government agencies and keeping them abreast of current requirements for study design, good laboratory practice, and statistical documentation.
As a consultant to industry, Olson is responsible for the
development of animal feed additives and drugs for enhancement of animal
production. His firm was integrally
responsible for the first new anabolic implant drug developed and approved in
several decades in the United States.
The American Society of Animal Science sponsors this award.
