RE: Re-organization of Program Committees
Your Boards of Directors/Officer Teams have decided to combine some program committees to enhance our Southern Branch Programs. In addition to the committees listed below, we plan to join forces during the registration process at the meetings. The organizational and awards committees and functions (awards program, business session, etc.) of each Society will remain separate. The joint program committees include:
Physiology: (2 dairy & 2 animal science)
Teaching & Undergraduate Education: (2 dairy and 2 animal science)
Forages: (1 dairy, 1 animal science,1 agronomy)
Growth and Development: (1 dairy, 2 animal science)
Breeding and Genetics: (1 dairy, 2 animal science)
The committees are planning educational activities for the annual meeting including symposia, invited speakers and other possible programs in addition to the submitted abstracts. Committee chairs were informed prior to the annual meetings and we already have a couple of symposia planned. In addition to our normal joint activities involving ADSA, ASAS and Agronomy, we are working to plan a symposium that will include Agricultural Educators and Food Technologists.
Regular committees for Southern Section - ADSA and - ASAS have been appointed and the lists are enclosed. If you have ideas regarding the changes or would like to serve on a committee for 1999-2000, please contact Jeff Armstrong (Jarmstro@ansc.purdue.edu) or Bill Crist (wcrist@ca.uky.edu). A special thank you to new and continuing committee members for your willingness to contribute to the Southern Section ADSA/ASAS Meetings.
