E. Keith Inskeep

Keith Inskeep was born January 11, 1938 in West Virginia, and earned a B.S. in dairy science at West Virginia University and an M.S. in genetics and a Ph.D. in endocrinology at the University of Wisconsin. He became assistant professor at West Virginia in 1964, has chaired the graduate program in reproductive physiology since 1965, and became professor in 1974. Inskeep has distinguished himself nationally and internationally as a scientist and educator. He has guided over 50 students to M.S. and Ph.D. degrees and in postdoctoral training programs. His students have done research to improve basic understanding of follicular development, luteal function, reproductive cycles, and fertility in ruminant females and to apply that knowledge on the farm. He has published extensively and his students continue to make significant contributions to the generation and application of new knowledge in the field of reproductive biology. Inskeep's numerous awards include the Physiology and Endocrinology Award of the American Society of Animal Science in 1987 and being elected Fellow of the Society in 1998. He received the Benedum Award for Outstanding Research at WVU in 1996. He served as section editor for Physiology and Endocrinology for the Journal of Animal Science and as president of the Society for the Study of Reproduction.
