Ioannis Mavromichalis

Ioannis Mavromichalis holds a B.S. degree (1993) in animal sciences from Aristotle's University, Greece, and an M.S. degree (1977) in swine nutrition from Kansas State University. Currently, he is pursuing a Ph.D. degree in swine nutrition with David H. Baker, at the University of Illinois. His research is focused on the nutrition of the weaned pig, including work on amino acids, vitamins, trace minerals, feed processing, and phase feeding. Ioannis Mavromichalis has authored or co-authored a total of 76 papers, of which 10 are peer-reviewed, and has presented 10 research reports at scientific meetings. His professional affiliations include memberships in the American Society of Animal Science, British Society of Animal Science, the American Society for Nutritional Sciences. Recent recognitions include the H. H. Mitchel Fellowship in Animal Nutrition (1999); A. L. Newman Outstanding Graduate Student Award (1999); Illinois Pork Council Scholarship Award (1998); and IKY Fellowship in Animal Nutrition (1997). His experience in the classroom involves teaching in four nutrition classes, two of which were at the graduate level, at the University of Illinois and Kansas State University. Mavromichalis plans to pursue a career oriented toward swine nutrition research and technology transfer that will benefit pork production on a worldwide basis.
