1999 ASAS Annual Meeting Offers Something for Everyone
Tech Forum 99 - July 21 & 22, 1999
T
ech Forum '99 will be a new addition to the 1999 ASAS annual meeting designed to accentuate research discoveries, symposia, and topics with immediate impact.Remember the species-oriented programs that were held during the evening? They offered valuable information, but their timing could have been better. The idea of Tech Forum '99 is to revive the quality programs but avoid the conflicts with other evening activities -- networking, renewing old acquaintances, or spending time with family and friends.
Tech Forum '99 is designed to be a period (July 21 - PM and July 22 - AM) during the meeting that is packed with current information focusing on the beef and pork industries. Individuals can register for Tech Forum '99 separate from the remainder of the meeting; however, we urge everyone to stay for the entire three days of exciting programming.
There are three basic components of Tech Forum '99: symposia and selected poster and oral presentations. The Tech Forum '99 committee has already identified symposia and topic areas to include. All Tech Forum '99 presentations will have an associated executive summary posted on the Annual Meeting Web Site prior to the meeting. Paper copies of these brief summaries will be distributed as well.
The Tech Forum '99 committee will browse Tech Forum-designated and other abstracts for those deemed to have the most immediate impact. Abstracts selected for Tech Forum '99 will be presented in an "enhanced" oral session (time extended to 20 minutes) or exhibited in the special Tech Forum '99 Poster Session. This poster session will be in the exhibit hall from 4 to 6 PM on July 21, 1999. Both the oral and poster sessions will be restricted in number of abstracts selected. For example, we will limit the number of posters to 15 to 25. It is our plan to have a reception during the poster session. Sponsors have already been secured for portions of the program.
Please plan to attend Tech Forum '99. If you believe your research, teaching or extension submission will provide immediate impact, please submit your abstract to Tech Forum '99 as well as your regular section.
