H. Allen Tucker Graduate Student Travel Scholarship

I. Name of Award: H. Allen Tucker Graduate Student Travel Scholarship

II. Nature of Award: A specified monetary award and a certificate.

III. Purpose: The Tucker Appreciation Club will support travel for graduate students to the annual international ASAS/ADSA scientific meeting and the triennial Biology of Lactation Workshop, held in conjunction with the ADSA/ASAS Joint meeting.

IV. Eligibility:

1.   Applicant must be a current Graduate Student Member of ASAS or ADSA

2.   Applicants must submit an abstract to the ASAS/ADSA annual meeting. Abstracts must be related to research in physiology, endocrinology, growth, or developmental biology.

3.   Abstracts found unacceptable as described in the ASAS/ADSA "Quality Standards for Abstracts" will not be considered.

4.   Abstracts must be presented as an oral presentation at the ASAS/ADSA annual meeting

5.   Each applicant must provide one letter of recommendation from his/her thesis advisor.

6.   Previous winners are not eligible

7. All entries must be submitted by published abstract deadline.

V. Application procedure:

Application to be submitted electronically on the web site: http://www.asas.org/newawards/lognom.asp and must also submit the abstract for consideration as an oral presentation at the meetings by submitting the abstract via the ASAS web site (www.asas.org) by the published abstract deadline.

VI. Selection criteria:

The abstract will be judged on the following criteria:

1.   Originality

2.   Clear-cut hypothesis, experimental design, results, interpretation, and conclusions

3.   Potential impact on industry

VII. Evaluation Committee

The evaluation committee will be a panel of three ASAS Past Presidents.
