Zimbelman/Hafs Public Policy Internship in Washington, D.C.

The American Society of Animal Science is pleased to announce the Zimbleman/Hafs Public Policy Internship. This internship will provide students an excellent opportunity to gain invaluable experience in Washington, D.C. The successful applicant will be placed in a Congressional office, Congressional Committee, or Federal Executive Branch Agency. The placement will be arranged by The Randel Group in service to the American Society of Animal Science. The Randel Group will work with the successful applicant to match their interests with available opportunities in Washington.

Background
This internship is supported by proceeds of funds provided for Appreciation Clubs to honor Robert Zimbelman and Harold Hafs, both distinguished retired members of the American Society of Animal Science.

Duration
Summer 2010

Stipend
While many internships in Washington are unpaid, ASAS is proud to offer the successful applicant a stipend in the amount of $3,000 to defray travel and living expenses during the internship.

Qualifications
Required:
Undergraduate student with a major in Animal Science, agricultural policy or a related discipline
Grade-point average >3.0/4.0
Desired:
Exceptional record of leadership and activities
Strong interest in public policy
