2009 Foundation Accomplishments

In 2009, the ASAS Foundation supported the following programs:

January 2009:

  1. The Wilson Pond Appreciation Club awarded the first two Wilson Pond International Travel Awards. These awards were given to Ashley DeDecker, a PhD student at the University of Illinois, and Allison Meyer, a PhD student at North Dakota State University.

February 2009:

  1. The Fontenot Appreciation Club awarded two student travel awards for presentation of data at the ASAS Southern Section Meeting.

March 2009:

July 2009:

  1. At the 2009 Joint Annual Meeting, the ASAS Foundation awarded the following awards:
    1. Bouffault Award to Dr. Everado Gonzalez Padilla
    2. Two Joseph Fontenot Appreciation Club travel awards to Heather White and Nicole Burdick
    3. Tucker Appreciation Club awarded a graduate student travel award to Cody Bailey
    4. ASAS Corbin Award to Dr. Nancy Irlbeck
    5. ASAS Casida Award to Dr. Jerry Reeves
  2. At the 2009 Joint Annual Meeting, the ASAS Foundation, through the Lauderdale Appreciation Club, provided $4000.00 in support of the Triennial Reproduction Symposium.
  3. At the 2009 Joint Annual Meeting, the ASAS Foundation awarded Early Career Awards to Dr. Galen Erickson and Dr. Cliff Lamb and the Retiree Service Award to Dr. Virgil Hayes.
  4. At the 2009 Joint Annual Meeting, the ASAS Foundation, through The Past Presidents’ Fund, provided $3500.00 in support of the entertainment at the opening reception.

November 2009:

  1. The Next Century Fund and the ASAS Foundation funded the travel of 5 invited speakers to represent ASAS at the Inaugural 2009 ASAS-CAAV Pacific Rim Conference in Beijing, China.
