2010 Foundation Goals

In 2010, the ASAS Foundation plans to continue to support the following programs:

January 2010:

  1. The Wilson Pond Appreciation Club will award International Travel Scholarships; these scholarships are for $2500.00. In 2010, the Wilson Pond Appreciation Club will increase the number of awards supported from 2 to 4!

February 2010:

  1. The Fontenot Appreciation Club will award two student travel awards for presentation of data at the ASAS Southern Section Meeting.

March 2010:

  1. The David Baker Appreciation Club will support an amino acid symposium at the 2010 ADSA-ASAS Midwest Meeting.
  2. The Billy Day Appreciation Club will support a reproduction symposium at the 2010 ADSA-ASAS Midwest Meeting.

April 2010:

  1. The first Zimbelman/Hafs Public Policy Internship Stipend will be awarded to an outstanding undergraduate in animal science allowing them to work in a Washington, DC, office for the summer of 2010.

July 2010:

  1. At the 2010 Joint Annual Meeting, the ASAS Foundation will give the following awards:
    1. Bouffault Award
    2. Two Joseph Fontenot Appreciation Club Travel Awards
    3. Tucker Appreciation Club Travel Award
    4. ASAS Corbin Award
    5. Two Early Career Awards
    6. Retiree Service Award.
  2. At the 2010 Joint Annual Meeting, the ASAS Foundation, through The Past Presidents’ Fund, will provide $3500.00 in support of the Opening and Closing Receptions.

In addition, in 2010 the ASAS Foundation is initiating support of the following programs:

The Retirees/Emeritus Lunch at the JAM: Join the ASAS Foundation at lunch on Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at the first Retirees/Emeritus Lunch. This year, two outstanding people will be remembered: Dr. Tom Reid of Cornell, and Dr. E. T. Kornegay of Virginia Tech.
