In 2011, the ASAS Foundation plans to continue to support the following programs:
January 2011:
- The Wilson Pond Appreciation Club will award International Travel Scholarships; these scholarships are for $2500.00. In 2011, the Wilson Pond Appreciation Club will increase the number of awards supported from 4 to 6!
February 2011:
- The Fontenot Appreciation Club will award two student travel awards for presentation of data at the ASAS Southern Section Meeting.
March 2011:
- The David Baker Appreciation Club will support an amino acid symposium at the 2011 ADSA-ASAS Midwest Meeting.
- The Billy Day Appreciation Club will support a reproduction symposium at the 2011 ADSA-ASAS Midwest Meeting.
April 2011:
- The second Zimbelman/Hafs Public Policy Internship Stipend will be awarded to an outstanding undergraduate in animal science allowing them to work in a Washington, DC, office for the summer of 2011.
July 2011:
- At the 2011 Joint Annual Meeting, the ASAS Foundation will give the following awards:
- Bouffault Award
- Two Joseph Fontenot Appreciation Club Travel Awards
- Tucker Appreciation Club Travel Award
- ASAS Corbin Award
- Two Early Career Awards
- Retiree Service Award
- The Physiology Award
- The Tucker Outstanding Endocrinology Award
- At the 2011 Joint Annual Meeting, the ASAS Foundation, through The Past Presidents’ Fund, will provide $3500.00 in support of the ASAS Awards.
- The ASAS Foundation will host the Heritage Lunch at the JAM: Join the ASAS Foundation at lunch. This year, two outstanding people will be remembered: Dr. David Baker and Dr. Tucker.
In addition, in 2011 the ASAS Foundation is initiating support of an outstanding student award, launch of the new magazine ASAS Frontiers and support of the AAPA-ASAS Argentina meeting.
