1999 Annual Meeting of the Northeast Section of ASAS/ADSA
                           Call for Papers

Meeting Information:

November 19, 1998

Dear Colleagues:

Plan now to attend the 1999 Annual Meeting of the Northeast Sections of the American Society of Animal Science and the American Dairy Science Association to be held on April 22-24, 1999 at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in Princess Anne, Maryland. The headquarters will be at the Richard Henson Center on the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Campus. A block of rooms has been reserved both at the Richard Henson Center and at the local Ramada. Our hosts have done an outstanding job of coordinating and planning the meeting and providing for our needs. You will receive as part of a separate mailing room and registration information.

The enclosed pages contain the information on the Call for Papers, Call for Nominations for NE ADSA and ASAS Secretary/Treasurer, and Young Scientist and Distinguished Service Awards, information for the Graduate Student Paper Competition, and a listing of current NE ADSA and ASAS officers complete with address, phone, and e-mail addresses. Please review and note the dates and addresses for return. If you have questions, please call Dr. Mark Estienne, our host at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Dr. Thomas Hoagland at the University of Connecticut, or Dr. Michael Westendorf at Rutgers University.

A special symposium is also being planned on "Nutrient Management and Waste Planning," as well as oral and poster sessions and a special Graduate Student Paper Competition.

Maryland is a fine place for a vacation and presents many opportunities with the Chesapeake Bay and historic Baltimore and Washington, D.C. close by. Ocean City, a famous vacation resort, is only a short distance from Princess Anne.

You can help keep this program strong by submitting an abstract for presentation at the Northeast meeting. Also, please consider nominating a deserving colleague for either the Young Scientist or Distinguished Service Awards. The deadline for submission of abstracts and nominations is January 22, 1999.

Plan now to attend and participate!

Sincerely,

Mike Westendorf, President NE ADSA

Tom Hoagland, President NE ASAS
