ACCOMMODATIONS AND DINING SERVICES
GENERAL INFORMATION

The
UC Davis Conference Housing Office welcomes conference groups to the University
residence halls/suites and Dining Rooms during the summer conference session. The lodging and dining services detailed
herein are subject to modification by group request.
Lodging Plan: Guests share a bath in each suite. Linen, placed on the bed in a bedroll,
includes 2 sheets, 2 towels, 1 washcloth, pillow, pillowcase, blanket, and
mattress pad (no bedspread). A small bar of soap and a plastic cup are
provided. Maid service is not available, but guests may exchange towels daily
at the Conference Housing Desk.
Conference Housing Desk: A Conference
Housing Desk is located in the complex.
Hours of operation may vary, but generally, the desks are open daily,
6:00am - 11:00pm. Desk hours are
subject to change and will be posted in the area. In addition to providing check-in and check-out services, the
Desk Staff will provide fresh towels, lockout keys, change, sports equipment,
irons, alarm clocks, campus maps, and city/campus directory information. The
Desk Staff will assist with details regarding transportation,
restaurants, and places of interest in Davis and Sacramento and lost
luggage. Messages will be taken and
posted on the message board in the lobby.
Check-in Procedures: Check
in may begin as early as 2:00 p.m.
Check-in services provided by the Conference Housing Staff include
housing registration, distribution of room keys, Dining Room cards and
information regarding lodging and dining services, and assistance in directing
guests to their accommodations
Check-out Procedures: A check-out time of 10:30 a.m. Friday June 23
has been established for all guests in order to allow time to prepare for new
conference arrivals. An additional night of lodging may be
charged for guests failing to check out by 10:30. Free storage of luggage is available to
individual guests. Arrangements must be
made in advance if luggage storage will be required for the entire
conference. There is no charge for this
service. To check-out, guests are asked to lock their room doors and return the
room key to the Conference Housing Desk.
Guests departing prior to 6:00 a.m. should make arrangements with the
desk staff the previous day.
Telephone Service: Telephones are not
provided in individual guest rooms. Pay telephones are available in public
areas for the placement of local and long distance calls. Messages will be taken at the Conference
Housing Desk and placed on message boards near the Conference Housing
Desk. Guests who are expecting messages
are encouraged to check the message board on a regular basis. Every effort will be made to personally
deliver emergency messages to the conference guest or director. Arrangements may be made in advance, to
install a telephone in guest rooms for the conference directors, sponsors,
chaperones and/or counselors.

Laundry: Coin operated washers ($.75) and dryers
($.50) are available in each residence hall/suite complex. Detergent is not available in the laundry
rooms, and must be supplied by the guest.
A limited number of irons are available for check-out.
Parking: Parking is available adjacent to all
residence hall/suite complexes. Parking
permits are required in all lots and on campus streets, Monday through Friday. Permits should be purchased with
preregistration. They may also be
purchased at University Parking
Operations, or at permit dispensers in some parking lots. Permits currently cost $3.00/each weekday
and rates are subject to change.
Parking is restricted to specific lots identified as “Visitor or Public
Parking”.
Keys: Each guest, with the exception of children,
will be issued a key. In the residence
halls, the guest key will open both the outside entrance to the hall and the
guest's room door. Guests staying in
residential suites will be issued a key that opens the entrance to the suite as
well as one bedroom within the suite. A
charge of $35.00 will be assessed for keys that are lost or not returned at
check-out. Conference guests are to pay
for a replacement key at the Conference Housing Desk. Keys that are not
returned or paid for by the guest will be billed to the conference, and
eventually to you. Since the
lock is changed shortly after a key is reported missing, the replacement fee is
not refundable if the original key is found at a later date.
Dining Services: Conference dining services professionally
prepare and serve cafeteria style meals in a residence hall Dining Room. The Dining Program offers a wide variety of
hot and cold entrees, a vegetarian entree, extensive salad and sandwich bars,
selection of soups, fresh fruits, desserts, and beverages. Unlimited seconds are offered on most items,
including entrees. Participants staying
off-campus may also purchase meals by paying the cash rate at the door, or may
use the various food services at Memorial Union.

Dining Cards: Each
guest will be issued a dining card for all Dining Room meals included in the
conference package. The card must be
presented at each meal to gain entrance to the Dining Room. A replacement fee of $10.00 will be assessed
for each lost Dining Card. Dining Cards must be returned at check-out.
Mail Services:
Incoming mail is held at the Conference Housing Desk for all
groups. Mail will be at the Desk by
4:00 p.m. each weekday, but is not delivered on the weekends. Mail should be addressed as follows:

Recreation: Sports
equipment (football, frisbee, volleyball, ping-pong) may be checked out from
the Conference Housing Desk for use.
The university has excellent recreational facilities including the
Recreation Hall (athletic complex), Recreation Pool (outdoors), Memorial Union
Bowling Alley, billiards and video games area, and tennis courts.
Accommodations for Children: Room rates and services apply to beds used by
youth between the ages of 11 and 18.
Children, 10 years or younger, may use a sleeping bag in the parent's room
at no charge, however, children 10 years or younger occupying a bed will be
charged the Youth Plan rates. No linen
will be provided for children using sleeping bags. The family must provide sleeping bags.
Children,
10 years and under, will be charged less for the meal portion of the conference
package. There is no charge for infants
with their own food supply (age 2 and under).
Items to Bring:
An alarm clock. WAKE-UP CALLS ARE NOT PROVIDED.
A limited number are at the Conference Housing desk.
Clothes hangers. A limited number are available at the Conference Housing desk.
Detergent is not available at the Conference
Housing Desk or in laundry rooms.
Sweater or light jacket (evenings may be cool).
Please

Pets of any kind. Pets are strictly prohibited.
Cooking appliances (Popcorn poppers, hot pots,
plates, toaster ovens, coffeepots, etc.)
CONFERENCE
ACCOMMODATIONS AND DINING POLICIES
Guests staying in the residence hall are expected to
abide by all University and Conference Housing and Dining Service
Policies. These include, but are not
limited to:
Alcoholic Beverages: The use and/or possession of alcoholic beverages are prohibited on
the Davis campus, including all areas in and around the residence halls and
Dining Commons. A permit to serve
alcoholic beverages (for ages 21 and over) in approved locations may be
acquired through the Campus Events and Visitors Office.
Firearms/Weapons: Campus regulations prohibit the possession of firearms or other weapons
by any person on University grounds, except with permission by campus
authorities.
Fireworks: Fireworks, explosives, and flammable
materials are prohibited in and around the residence halls.
Fire Safety: The residence halls are equipped with an excellent fire detection
and alarm system. Tampering with any of
this equipment including fire extinguishers, heat/smoke detectors, or alarm
boxes is strictly prohibited. When
warranted, violators will be prosecuted and fined. At the sound of a fire alarm, all guests are required to leave
the residence hall immediately and remain outside until the University Fire
Department allows re-entry. As a fire
safety measure, electric cooking appliances are not allowed in the residence
halls.
Courtesy (Quiet) Hours: For the consideration of all guests, courtesy (quiet) hours are
observed daily between the hours of 11:00pm and 8:00am.
Dining Room: While enjoying meals in any of the Dining Rooms, please observe
the following policies:
* Shirts and shoes are required in all
Dining Rooms.
* Radios, tapedecks, and stereos with
headphones are not allowed in the Dining Room.
* Food may not be taken from the Dining
Room, with the exception of an ice cream cone.
* Backpacks, bags, beverage containers, and sports
bottles are not allowed in the Dining Room. Guests are encouraged to leave
these items in their rooms or will be asked to leave them at the entrance to
the Dining Room during the meal.
Guests: Non-registered (non-paying)
guests are prohibited from staying overnight in the residence halls.
Damages and Missing Items: Charges will be assessed to the conference group for the damaged
furnishings and/or rooms, residence hall areas left in excessively dirty
condition, missing linens, etc. Conference
staff are invited to inspect the condition of the facilities and furnishings
with the Conference Housing Staff prior to and at the conclusion of the
conference. This is recommended to
avoid questions after the fact regarding charges for damages.
Smoking: Smoking is not allowed inside any building or in any
public area throughout the campus.
Pets: Pets of any kind are not permitted in the
Residence Halls
VIOLATION OF ANY OF THE ABOVE
REGULATIONS MAY RESULT IN IMMEDIATE DISMISSAL FROM THE RESIDENCE HALLS
CONFERENCE PROGRAM.
