The 2001 Western Section of the American Society of Animal Science (WSASAS) meeting will be held at Montana State University, Bozeman, on June 20-23 (Symposium on June 20 and Ted Turner Buffalo operation and area seedstock producer tour on June 23). Please note the following dates with respect to this meeting:

March 7, 2001 Abstracts should be prepared and submitted as instructed by the enclosed material no later than this date. Please ensure that abstracts conform to Quality Standards for Abstracts found on the WSASAS home page (www.asas.org/westernsection). 

March 7, 2001 Nominations for the WSASAS Distinguished Service, Young Scientist, Distinguished Teacher, and Extension Awards should be forwarded to James W. Oltjen, Department of Animal Science, 1 Shields Avenue, University of California, Davis CA 95616. Instructions for nominations can be found on the WSASAS home page (www.asas.org/westernsection). Please take this opportunity to nominate individuals at your institution or company that are doing outstanding work and deserve recognition.

March 28, 2001 Manuscripts for the WSASAS Proceedings (Volume 52) should be submitted to the Secretary-Treasurer, WSASAS at the address above, postmarked no later than this date. A copy of the manuscript should be submitted as either a Word Perfect or Word file on a 3.5 inch disk along with the manuscript hard copy. Instructions for preparation of the manuscript can be found on the WSASAS homepage (www.asas.org/westernsection). Manuscripts are suggested to be four pages in length and are to be photo-ready. Please do not staple. Please make us aware of your presentation needs.

The enclosed invoice for page charges and publication approval form or an equivalent form from your institution should be submitted with the manuscript. In addition, please include a publication fee of $20.00/page. Checks should be made payable to: Western Section, American Society of Animal Science, c/o Dr. Patrick Hatfield at the address above.

Materials included in this mailing along with 2001 meeting information, registration, and housing information (via a link found on the WSASAS home page, accessible in the near future), instructions for nominations, WSASAS committee assignments, guidelines for oral and poster presentations, and an example proceedings are available at the WSASAS homepage (www.asas.org/westernsection).

Please encourage your students to participate in the Graduate Student Paper Competition held during the annual meeting and to become member of the American Society of Animal Science. Graduate Student registration fees will be waived if registration is received before the Registration deadline.
