The
2002 Western Section of the American Society of Animal Science (WSASAS) meeting
will be held at Colorado State University, Ft. Collins, CO, on June 19-21
(Symposium on June 19 and tour on June 21 and/or 22). Please note the following dates with respect to this meeting:
March 6, 2002 Abstracts should be prepared and submitted as
instructed by the enclosed material no later than this date. Please ensure that abstracts conform to
Quality Standards for Abstracts found on the WSASAS home page (www.asas.org/westernsection).
March 6, 2002 Nominations for the WSASAS Distinguished
Service, Young Scientist, Distinguished Teacher, and Extension Awards should be
forwarded to Dr. Patrick G. Hatfield, Montana State University, 230B Linfield
Hall, PO Box 172900, Bozeman, MT 59717.
Instructions for nominations can be found on the WSASAS home page (www.asas.org/westernsection). Please take this opportunity to nominate
individuals at your institution or company that are doing outstanding work and
deserve recognition.
April 5, 2002 Manuscripts for the WSASAS Proceedings (Volume 53)
should be submitted to the Secretary-Treasurer, WSASAS at the address above,
postmarked no later than this date. A
copy of the manuscript should be submitted as either a Word Perfect or Word
file on a 3.5 inch disk along with the manuscript hard copy. Instructions for preparation of the
manuscript can be found on the WSASAS homepage (www.asas.org/westernsection). Manuscripts are suggested to be four pages
in length and are to be photo-ready. Please do not staple. Please make us aware of your presentation
needs.
The Applied Animal Science
Award, sponsored by industry, was voted in as a regular award of the Western
Section at the executive committee meeting in Bozeman in 2001. The awards are
selected from proceedings papers submitted for publication in the WSASAS proceedings
based on the criteria of 1) Applicability to current production systems 2)
Potential for economic return on investment 3) New and innovative approaches to
existing production problems. The
papers will be evaluated and selected by a committee of industry and academic
animal agriculture consultants appointed and chaired by the WSASAS Industry
Representative. Persons interested
in having their proceedings paper reviewed by this committee for this award
must submit by, April 5, 2002, a hard copy and electronic file of the
proceedings paper directly to: Dr.

Please
encourage your students to participate in the Graduate Student Paper
Competition held during the annual meeting and to become member of the American
Society of Animal Science. Graduate
Student registration fees will be waived if registration is received before the
Registration deadline.
