WSASAS Awards
Distinguished Service Award


Objective:	To recognize those members of the Western Section of the American Society of Animal Science who have made the most outstanding contributions to animal agriculture in the western region. As such, this award will be the most prestigious honor that the Western Section ASAS bestows upon its members.

Award:	Consists of a specified monetary award, an appropriate plaque and a photographic portrait, which will be presented to the recipient. A second portrait of the recipient will be presented to the institution with which the awardee is affiliated. No more than one award will be presented annually.

Eligibility for Nomination:	1. A nominee must be a member of the Western Section of the American Society of Animal Science, but may not be an officer of the regional organization at the time of nomination. 2. Nominees must possess outstanding character and ability in the teaching, research, extension, administrative or industrial phases of animal and meat sciences. 3. Nominees should have contributed long and valuable service, especially to western animal agriculture. 4. Nominations may be submitted by active members in good standing of the American Society of Animal Science.

Material from Nominator:	1. Biography of the nominee not to exceed 2670 characters and spaces 2. List of publications 3. Summary to establish the nature and value of the nominee's contribution to the field of animal science and such other supporting information as may be deemed essential by the nominator, such as character, civic or church activities in addition to professional activities on a local, state, national or international level not to exceed 8000 characters and spaces 4. One copy of a citation of approximately 500 words suitable for publication in the Journal of Animal Science
