Western Section Director (to the ASAS National Board) and Graduate Student Representative for the Western Section Board - Nomination Form

Please use the form below to submit your nominations for the Western Section, ASAS board positions of Western Section Director (to the ASAS National Board) and Graduate Student Representative. Self-nominations are encouraged.

Please complete the series of brief questions below and click the "submit" button when finished. Your nomination will be passed on to the Western Section Nominating Committee for review. You may be contacted by a member of the nominating committee to further discuss the nomination.

Nominations for the 2022-2023 Western Section Election are due by 3:00 PM Central on Monday, June 13, 2022.

Candidates for the election ballot will be selected by June 29, 2022. Those not selected for this year's ballot may be considered for future years.

Western Section Director (to the ASAS National Board) details:

  • Time commitment:
    This is a 3-year appointment 5 – 30 hours per month (time will vary depending upon the time of the year).
  • Responsibilities will include:
    • Attend monthly virtual WSASAS Board Meetings and yearly in-person board meeting during the WSASAS Sectional Meeting.
    • Attend monthly virtual ASAS National Board Meetings and twice-yearly in-person board meetings.
    • The primary responsibility of the Western Section Director/Representative to the ASAS National Board is to represent the interests of the Western Section to the ASAS National Board and to communicate decisions and actions of the National Board to the ASAS Western Section

Western Section Graduate Student Director details:

  • Time commitment: 
    This is a 2-year appointment that will require 5 – 20 hours per month 
    (time will vary depending upon the time of the year).
  • Responsibilities will include:
    • Plan and implement the Graduate Student activities.
    • Create networking opportunities through organizing the Graduate Student Mixer.
    • Attend monthly virtual WSASAS Board Meetings and yearly in-person board meeting at the WSASAS Sectional Meeting.
    • Initiate communication and discussion opportunities for Western Section graduate students.
    • Serve and vote on meeting issues presented during Board meetings.
