A Letter From our President
It is with great excitement that we are meeting in person this year for the American Society of Animal Science annual meeting in conjunction with the Southern Section American Society of Animal Science (SSASAS) and virtually with the Canadian Society of Animal Science (CSAS). We ask that you follow all the guidelines outlined for all COVID safety measures including social distancing, use of masked where required and use of hand sanitizers. This year’s meeting begins on Wednesday July 14 and runs through Saturday July 17. We will have an “in-person/virtual’ overlap day with the American Dairy Science Association on Wednesday July 14. Many opportunities exist for interacting and networking, starting with the overlap symposia (virtual and live) Wednesday July 14. An Opening Reception will follow the Opening Session. The Annual Meeting program includes more than 33 symposia, 532 oral presentations, and 492 poster presentations on a variety of topics that cover many species, disciplines and current topics of importance. As mentioned previously, we are meeting in person with the SSASAS and virtually with the Canadian Society of Animal Science (CSAS). We (ASAS, SSASAS, and CSAS are grateful to the ASAS staff and many volunteers that devoted their time and energy to make this meeting a success. We especially want to thank our sponsors. Their support is essential to the quality program that makes this ASAS-CSAS-SSASAS Annual Meeting an excellent meeting. A list of sponsors of the 2021 Annual Meeting is available in this program book. Please take time to thank these sponsors during the meeting. We are grateful to the Overall Program Committee of Shawn Archibeque (chair), Joel Caton, Richard Coffey, Glenn Duff, Mohsen Jafarikia, Andrew Foote, Daniel Poole, Flavio Schenkel, Terry Ward, Aimee Wertz-Lutz, and Meghan Wulster-Radcliffe for their time and energy in assembling this outstanding scientific program. Finally, thank you, the attendees (in person and virtual), for participating in the 2021 ASAS-CSAS-SSASAS Annual Meeting & Trade Show in Louisville. We hope you appreciate the scientific program and have fun in Louisville! We hope you have a safe and rewarding experience.
