March 18, 2015 – Dr. Brian Whitaker, University of Findlay, received the Midwest Outstanding Young Teacher Award during the 2015 ASAS Midwestern Section/ADSA Midwest Branch Joint Meeting in Des Moines, Iowa.
Dr. Whitaker received his B.S. in Animal Science from the University of Massachusetts – Amherst and his M.S. and Ph.D. from Virginia Tech in Reproductive Physiology. In 2010, Dr. Whitaker joined the faculty of the Department of Animal Science and Pre-veterinary Studies at the University of Findlay, Ohio. He is currently responsible for teaching multiple undergraduate courses, including Introduction to Animal Science, Physiology of Reproduction, Advanced Animal Reproduction, and Swine Production and Management. He runs an active undergraduate student research laboratory in the area of reproductive cell biology, serves as the academic advisor to over 50 students, and is the advisor to the University’s Academic Quadrathlon team and Block and Bridle club. In 2012, Dr. Whitaker was named a NACTA Teacher Fellow and received a National Pork Board Innovation Award for education in 2014.
