March 16, 2016 – The American Society of Animal Science Midwestern Section honored Dr. Barry Bradford, Kansas State University, with the Outstanding Young Teacher Award at the 2016 ASAS Midwestern Section/ADSA Midwest Branch Meeting in Des Moines, Iowa.
Dr. Bradford completed dual bachelor’s degrees at Iowa State University and a doctorate in animal nutrition at Michigan State University. In 2006 he joined Kansas State University as an assistant professor, and was promoted to associate professor in 2011. Over the last 9 years he has impacted well over 1,000 students by teaching courses including Fundamentals of Nutrition, Physiology of Lactation, and Dairy Cattle Nutrition. He also oversees an active research program and has published more than 60 peer-reviewed papers on the interactions of inflammation and metabolism, use of alternative feedstuffs in dairy cattle, and physiological regulation of carbohydrate and lipid metabolism.
