July 11, 2016 – Recordings of all five webinars in the ASAS webinar series about the revised Nutrient Requirements of Beef Cattle are available online through the American Society of Animal Science (ASAS) webpage.
The latest webinar, recorded July 11, included presentations by Dr. Andy Cole, Agricultural Research Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture (Retired); Dr. Karen Beauchemin, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, Lethbridge, Alberta; and Dr. Galen Erickson, University of Nebraska, Lincoln. They discussed new chapters and revisions relating to environmental issues, and byproducts and feed composition.
The fourth webinar featured guest speaker Dr. Luis Tedeschi of Texas A&M University in College Station discussing the development and evaluation of the mathematical model.
The third webinar featured a discussion of key changes related to protein, vitamins, and minerals. Guest speakers included Dr. Joel Caton, North Dakota State University, and Dr. Joan Eisemann, North Carolina State University.
The second webinar panelists included Dr. Joel Caton, North Dakota State University; Dr. Clint Krehbiel, Oklahoma State University; and Dr. Ron Lemenager, Purdue University. They discussed revisions relating to cattle maintenance, growth and reproduction.
The first webinar, featuring an overview of the revised publication by Dr. Mike Galyean, Chair of the Committee on Nutrient Requirements of Beef Cattle, also is available.
