Trey Kellner, Iowa State University, is the recipient of the Stahly/Peo Outstanding Swine Nutrition Midwest Graduate Student Award.
Kellner is from Stockton, Kansas and received his B.S. degree at the University of Nebraska. At Iowa State University under the guidance of Dr. John Patience, Kellner earned an M.S. degree in 2014. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate.
Kellner’s research has focused on more accurately predicting carcass iodine value, on understanding how dietary fat composition influences lipogenesis and lipolysis, how heat stress impacts dietary utilization and how the chemical composition of dietary fat can be used to estimate the ME and NE content of dietary fats.
Kellner is outgoing Graduate Director on the ASAS Midwestern Section Board of Directors. He has received numerous awards, including a Miller Fellowship and an IPPA Foundation Fellowship. Upon graduation, he will be a nutritionist for AMVC.
