Grill and chill time!

Ice cream

It’s time to submit entries for the 2017 Battle of the Brats competition and the 2017 Big Scoop ice cream competition, coming up next month at the 2017 ASAS-CSAS Annual Meeting & Trade Show in Baltimore. Last year, more than 14 entries competed in the Battle of the Brats competition. Gallons and gallons of ice cream also were on hand for annual meeting attendees to sample and vote for their favorite entry in the Big Scoop competition.

As in past years, we are asking animal science departments to:

1) Submit your school’s flagship brat. Your entry will be available for sampling throughout the ASAS Awards celebration, and the winner will be chosen by a panel of celebrity judges. The winner receives a $1,000 award for their department and a trophy. The award will be presented during the ASAS Business Meeting. We would like to ask that groups entering the competition donate 75 brats, and ASAS will help arrange and pay for shipment of the brats. Schools will be given ASAS sponsorship status based on the value of the brats. There will also be signage at the event, and of course, bragging rights at the end!
2) Submit your school’s flagship ice-cream flavor for judging in the Big Scoop competition. Your entry will be available for sampling throughout the ASAS Awards celebration, and the winner will be chosen by popular vote. The winner receives a $1,000 award for their department and a trophy. The award will be presented during the ASAS Business Meeting. We would like to ask that groups entering the competition donate 3 gallons of their ice cream entry, and ASAS will help arrange and pay for shipment of the ice cream. Schools will be given ASAS sponsorship status based on the value of the ice cream. There will also be signage at the event, and of course, bragging rights at the end!
Please email asas@asas.org if you would like to compete in the 2017 Battle of the Brats or Big Scoop competitions. After confirming that your school/department will compete, a member of the ASAS staff will work with you to arrange shipment to the meeting.
