Josie Coverdale Equine Science Scholarship Award

The Josie Coverdale Equine Science Scholarship Award was given to Lauren Hodge, Mississippi State University, during the 2017 ASAS-CSAS Annual Meeting & Trade Show.

Lauren was born and raised in Arkansas. She received B.S. degrees from the University of Arkansas at Monticello in Animal Science and Agriculture Business. Lauren then received her M.S. degree in Animal Science from Mississippi State University, focusing on equine nutrition under the direction of Dr. Brian Rude. She is currently a Ph.D. candidate at Mississippi State University. Her research focuses on arginine supplementation to gestating mares and its effects on reproductive parameters.

The Josie Coverdale Equine Science Scholarship Award was established in honor of Dr. Josie Coverdale. It recognizes excellence in Equine Science students.

The sponsor for this award is the Josie Coverdale Equine Science Scholarship.

Lauren accepted the award from Mark Coverdale, Amanda Bradberry and Jessica Leatherwood during the ASAS Awards Ceremony, held July 9 in Baltimore, Maryland.

ASAS is a professional organization that serves more than 7,000 students, animal scientists, allied industry and producers around the world.
