We would like to take a moment to thank Dr. Joel Caton for his recent service to the Journal of Animal Science (JAS) and Translational Animal Science (TAS). In February 2015, Dr. Joel Caton was appointed as Associate Editor of JAS on a temporary basis with the position to end in July 2017. He was appointed to assist the editor in chief expedite review of the large back load of papers in Manuscript Central and to facilitate creation of a more stream lined process. The associate editor position was extended with the decision to initiate a new ASAS journal. However, the excess papers in Manuscript Central have now been processed, we are routinely under 6 months to publication (only a few weeks to first look), TAS is established and with the transition to Oxford University Press, the associate editor position was viewed as less essential. Therefore, the position of associate editor will be discontinued at the end of February, 2018.
The ASAS Board of Directors and ASAS Staff want to personally thank Dr. Caton for his major contributions to the journals and we ask that if members have a moment they extend a similar message to Dr. Caton. We will miss his help with the journal. He has provided assistance to all of us as we moved the journals to a new editorial arrangement and significantly shortening the time from submission to publication. This would not have been accomplished without Dr. Caton’s tireless devotion to the journals and to ASAS.
Beginning March 1, the responsibilities performed by Dr. Caton will revert to the EiC.
If you have a chance, please thank Dr. Caton for his assistance.
