Combine Science and Vacation in 2018

The 2018 WCAP and ASAS-CSAS Annual Meetings will be held in Vancouver this year. Based on current exchange rates, our housing costs (as low as $150 USD) are significantly less than previous years. This rate is also less than comparable US cities and hotel rates at other scientific society meetings in 2018. Don’t miss this opportunity to enjoy this amazing city and the surrounding areas by combing business and vacation. Before or after the meetings, Vancouver has an amazing list of summertime attractions!

-Granville Island - this place comes alive in the summer with street performers and all sorts of things to see and do, including the wonderful and free water park for kids, walks along the seawall and shopping in the market.
-Grouse Mountain - after the snow disappears Grouse turns into a summer play area with its movie theatre, grizzly bear habitat, summer Lumberjack and Birds in Motion shows, and scenic rides up the chairlift.
-Stanley Park - one of Vancouver’s best places to visit any time of the year, Stanley Park is especially popular in the summer with its beautiful sandy beaches, giant outdoor children’s pool at Second Beach, and the Stanley Park seawall for cycling, walking, jogging and roller-blading around.
-Whistler - it’s a couple of hours out of town, and most famous for its winter activities, but Whistler is also a prime destination in the summer. The village is a beautiful place to walk around and enjoy a drink or meal at an outdoor patio restaurant. The Peak-to-Peak gondola offers access to world-class mountainous views, and the whole area is a hiking, mountain biker, cyclist and golfers’ paradise.
-Whale Watching - From March to October each year, thousands of whales migrate through the waters near Vancouver, making it one of the world’s best locations for whale watching. Many varieties of whales pass through these northern waterways, including humpback whales, orcas, gray whales and minke whales.
