Giving Tuesday opportunities - 2019

GivingTuesday2017Email

Each year we receive thousands of emails announcing Black Friday specials, Small Business Saturday incentives and Cyber Monday deals, but we receive far fewer advertisements for a day when we can truly make a difference: Giving Tuesday!

This year the ASAS Foundation asks that you give to ASAS or the Foundation on Giving Tuesday! These gifts can have a impact for a lifetime. Most gifts to ASAS or the ASAS Foundation are to one of the many Appreciation Clubs – these Clubs are set up to honor and pay tribute to animal scientists who have made great impacts throughout their careers. The clubs serve double duty, first to honor and remind us of their namesakes and second to provide funds to directly support ASAS members!

Excitingly, the ASAS Foundation has agreed to match any donation, from the Foundation General Fund, given to any of these funds on Giving Tuesday! Today, the Foundation is actively fundraising for the following clubs:

James Sartin Appreciation Club
This fund was formed to recognize the contribution of Dr. James Sartin to the field of animal science and to the American Society of Animal Science. The Appreciation Club funds will be used to fund the ASAS President’s International Award. This Award was started by Dr. Sartin during his presidency and was designed to recognize international members that have made significant scientific contributions to animal science throughout their tenure as scientists.

David Baker Appreciation Club
This club was formed to recognize the contribution of Dr. David Baker to the non-ruminant nutrition and to the American Society of Animal Science. Money from the club is used yearly to support the David Baker Amino Acid Symposium at ADSA-ASAS Midwest Section Meeting.

The ASAS Foundation has many ways to give throughout the course of a year, providing over $100,000 in direct support to members of the American Society of Animal Science. The ASAS Foundation ensures student travel, internships, international engagement, publication, awards, and the highest quality scientific programming.

As you are considering donations on Giving Tuesday, we humbly ask that you consider giving to ASAS or the ASAS Foundation.
