Dear Northeast Member,
The Northeast section of ASAS/ADSA is currently accepting nominations for the 2020-2021 Northeast Election. The board is seeking nomination for Secretary-Treasurer (ADSA member) and Graduate Student Director (ASAS or ADSA member).
The Secretary-Treasurer position will monitor section financials in cooperation with ASAS staff and is responsible for the creation of Executive Committee and Business Meeting minutes. The Secretary-Treasurer is expected to participate in monthly conference calls to coordinate Northeast Section matters. This is a three-year term that rotates up to Vice President (2nd year) and President (3rd year).
The Graduate Director position will plan and coordinate all student activities within the section as well as represent the Northeast Section on National student committees. Graduate directors participate in monthly conference calls to coordinate Northeast Section matters. This position is a two-year term.
Current Northeast Board members express the importance of being involved with sectional leadership:
- “As president of the NE ADSA/ASAS section, I have enjoyed the ability to be involved in a leadership role for our organization for the past 3 years. I joined the board as the Secretary/Treasurer of the organization and have appreciated participating in the growth of the section over the past 3 years of my service. The NE ADSA/ASAS board provides a chance to work closely with colleagues from other institutions and to expand the opportunities for all members of both ADSA and ASAS in the northeast region. It is my sincere hope that nominees for the Secretary/Treasurer position this spring possess a passion for animal science and a desire to make the northeast region known for the good work that we all do here.”- Dr. Tara Felix, Northeast President
- "During the past year (2019/2020), I have been one of the graduate student directors of the Northeast section of ASAS/ADSA. It has been an excellent opportunity to get to meet and be exposed to different people from different organizations (academia and industry), as well as to learn how our society works “behind the scenes” preparing and organizing our meetings. This opportunity has definitely changed my view of each event that I have attended and helped me to grow as a future professional in our society." - Pedro Carvalho, Northeast Graduate Student Representative
If you know of an individual(s) who would be interested in a leadership role, please nominate them by by 3:00 PM CDT on May 15, 2020 using the online nomination form.
