Call for Nominations for the 2020-2021 ASAS Board

The ASAS National Nominating Committee is seeking nominations for President-Elect, Director-at-Large and Graduate Student Director for the 2020-2021 ASAS National Board. If you, or a colleague, are interested in serving ASAS on the National Board, please fill out the 2020-2021 National Election Nomination form.

Nominations for the 2020-2021 ASAS National Election are due June 3, 2020. Candidates for the election ballot will be selected by June 12, 2020. Those not selected for this year's ballot may be considered for future years.

A brief description of each board role can be found below. If you would like more details on any board position, please contact the ASAS Past President and Chair of the Nominating Committee, Dr. Todd Armstrong at Todd.armstrong@pahc.com

Name of office: President-Elect 

Length of term:  One year (followed by a year as President and a year as Past-President – 3 year commitment)

Timeline: Begin service at end of Business meeting at Annual Meeting, end service one year hence when assuming responsibilities as President at Annual Board meeting in July.

Number of meetings:  2 board meetings (summer ASAS meeting and winter board meeting), 2 executive board meetings (April and October), at least 20 conference calls throughout the year. Additional travel to represent ASAS is also required.

Committees:  Executive Committee, Finance Committee, Publications Committee and Membership Committee

Reports: Committee structure for coming year, Presents President’s Plan before Presidential Year

Additional Requirements: Please note the nominating committee generally requires previous ASAS Board experience to be considered for this position.

 

Name of office: Director-at-Large

Length of term: Three years

Timeline:  Begin service at end of Business meeting at Annual Meeting, end service three years hence.

Number of meetings:  2 board meetings (summer ASAS meeting and winter board meeting), at least 20 conference calls throughout the year. 

Committees:  Varies by role

Reports:  Varies by role

Name of office: Graduate Student Director

Length of term: Two years

Timeline:  Begin service at end of Business meeting at Annual Meeting, end service two years hence.

Number of meetings:  2 board meetings (summer ASAS meeting and winter board meeting), at least 20 conference calls throughout the year.
