2021 Gary Allee Symposium: Science in Practice: Virtual Monday March 8, 2021 at 2021 ASAS Midwest Meeting
Following Dr. Allee’s death in 2020, it was important to the committee to put together a robust platform to educate and to remember Dr. Allee. We believe they have done just that. Monday morning will begin with Dr. Mark Newcomb providing an overview of Dr. Allee’s career and end with Dr. Joel Spencer reviewing Dr. Allee’s philosophy on teaching research and the swine industry. Additionally, Dr. Brian Kerr will give a talk entitled “A metabolic understanding of nutrition, Dr. Kevin Touchette will speak about Nursery Pig Research, Dr. Bob Goodband will speak about protein and amino acids use in swine nutrition and Dr. Gary Stoner will discuss one of Gary’s favorite subjects International Scientific Development! To further allow colleagues to remember Dr. Allee, there will be a virtual room open all day for scientists to “wander” in and out and reminisce about Dr. Allee.
Dr. Allee’s legacy within the Midwest Section is unrivaled, please join us on the first day of Midwest at his namesake symposia for a walk through of his contributions to nonruminant nutrition!
