ASAS Announces a Writing Workshop for Graduate Students and Early Career Scientists
Publishing is a cornerstone of our scientific community and because of rapid changes in the publication landscape, ASAS is offering a day and a half writing workshop for graduate students and early career scientists. The workshop will concentrate on the production of a paper from start to finishing – writing to submission, to surviving the review, to picking the correct journal to publish. The workshop will be conducted by current and former editors of major Scientific journals.
Join us September 25-26, 2023, at the Hollywood Beach Marriott in Hollywood Beach, FL for the first workshop.

Course participants will review papers provided by JAS or TAS and receive reviews to compare. Graduate students are invited to submit their paper to the course director for review by a JAS or TAS reviewer and a course participant.

Registration: The course is limited to the first 25 students or early career faculty to register online at https://members.asas.org/events/. There is a refundable application fee of $100, refunded at the conclusion of the course. Graduate students accepted to attend and who plan to submit a paper for the course should submit their paper to jsartin@asas.org by August 11, 2023.
Attendees are responsible for travel costs to and from the Hollywood Beach Marriott. Costs for the hotel room (Sunday and Monday nights) and food (Monday breakfast, lunch and reception, and Tuesday breakfast) are provided by ASAS. After registration, Melissa Burnett from ASAS will contact you to obtain hotel room scheduling information. If you wish to stay before or after the meeting, you must pay for the additional hotel nights at the negotiated rate of $179 per night (based on room availability).
Students who successfully complete the ASAS Writing Course will receive ½ off member page charges for one senior author paper arising from their dissertation. This offer is available through September 24, 2024.
