2024 DC Animal Agriculture Policy Intern - Calihan Waller!

"As an aspiring politician and lifetime animal agriculture advocate, being chosen to serve as the intern for the ASAS Foundation in Washington D.C. means the world to me. This opportunity will not only allow me to learn more about the legislative process but also further my understanding of how efforts made in the West in favor of animal agriculture are met on Capitol Hill.

I am eager to expand my knowledge while growing as a leader and agriculturalists!"

500x500 Email Template (89)-1

This scholarship provides financial assistance for a graduate student focusing on swine nutrition to be used towards travel expenses to the 2025 ASAS Midwest or Annual Meeting.

This fund is intended to provide graduate students with the opportunity to gain valuable learning experiences, expand their professional network, and build lasting relationships with colleagues and friends in the field.

We walked among giants,” Dean Boyd noted in reflection of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s (UNL) extraordinary nonruminant nutritionists' lineage that can be traced back to Drs. Ernie Peo, Murray Danielson, Austin Lewis, Bobby D. Moser, and so many more “giants.” This fund honors and celebrates UNL's extraordinary history while supporting current and future animal scientists.

ASAS is a Key to my Success Because

B. Kegley 1

"Attending my first ASAS Annual meeting as an undergraduate, representing the Virginia Tech Block and Bridle Club, was a transformative experience. Engaging in the scientific sessions not only sparked my curiosity but also profoundly influenced my career trajectory, showing me new possibilities and reinforcing my determination to contribute to the field. This exposure to innovative ideas and the collective enthusiasm of experts in animal science inspired me to dream bigger and set ambitious goals for my future. From that first meeting through today, being part of the energy and commitment of so many passionate individuals from across the globe is always incredibly motivating.

Each ASAS meeting continues to be a revitalizing experience, expanding my knowledge and widening my circle of cherished colleagues. The society opens doors for me to share my research, hone my leadership skills, and engage with scientists from every corner of the globe.

I contribute to the ASAS Foundation with hope and confidence, knowing that my donation will empower ASAS to continue providing inspiring educational and professional development opportunities, as well as meaningful experiences, for the aspiring animal scientists of tomorrow. Please join me in supporting the ASAS Foundation and ensuring those who follow in our footsteps continue to have these powerful and transformational experiences!”
