FOSTERING INNOVATORS FOR THE FUTURE
IMPACT: Undergraduate and Graduate Students
"Receiving the Joseph P. Fontenot Travel Scholarship Award is a great honor and a testament to the dedication of both myself and our research group. This scholarship will make it possible for me to attend the upcoming ASAS Annual Meeting in Hollywood, Florida—an essential opportunity to share our findings and engage with fellow researchers and colleagues, further advancing knowledge in animal science. I am sincerely grateful to the selection committee and all ASAS Foundation partners for their support and recognition." Arnaldo Limede | Ph.D. Student | School of Animal Sciences | Virginia Tech | Fall 2028
IMPACT: Early Career Animal Scientists
"I am honored and humbled to be the 2025 recipient of the Early Career Achievement Award*. This prestigious recognition is profoundly meaningful to me, as it reflects the research I have been privileged to pursue. I am sincerely grateful for the support and encouragement I’ve received from mentors, colleagues, and peers along the way. This award encourages me to continue striving to contribute meaningfully to research and scholarship, and to pay it forward by supporting and mentoring the next generation of animal scientists through graduate student mentorship and teaching." Raghavendra Amachawadi, DVM, MS, Ph.D. | Associate Professor | Food Animal Therapeutics | Kansas State University
*The Early Career Achievement Award is provided by the Foundation's Fellows Fund.
IMPACT: Professional Members
"I am humbled to be invited to present the Randel Lecture. This tremendous honor acknowledges my research efforts to evaluate the viability of preimplantation livestock embryos. Receiving this recognition carries profound significance, as it was at the ASAS Western Section meeting in 1978 where I first presented my initial research findings on using embryo transfer in beef cattle. Furthermore, being invited to present this prestigious lecture makes it even more special to me personally since it is named after Dr. Ron Randel, who I have admired and respected for many years. Adding further meaning to this award is the fact that it is made possible by the Ronald D. Randel Appreciation Club. Knowing that Dr. Randel and his wife Colleen will be in attendance makes this invitation especially significant to me." Matthew B. Wheeler, Ph.D. | University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

THE 1908 SOCIETY
Steve and Patty Armbruster
"Having grown up on a wheat and beef cattle operation near Burlington, Oklahoma, animal agriculture has always held a special place in my heart. With a passion for making a positive impact on the world, for animals and humans, my career was shaped by diverse experiences. Throughout my career, I have experienced the inestimable benefits of ASAS membership, and I want to ensure that others have the same privileges and opportunities.
Supporting ASAS in perpetuity was a natural and important decision for Patty and me, as it has been an integral part of my life since graduate school. However, when I was asked to share the "story" of why we included ASAS in our estate plan, I found it difficult to express my thoughts meaningfully in writing. In my search for the right words, I returned to the ASAS website, where I had previously reflected on the evolution, mission, and vision of our organization. I was also able to read about the countless members whose lives have been transformed because of charitable contributions to the Foundation.
If you are seeking to articulate your passion for ASAS and leave a lasting impact, perhaps this exercise will help you as it did me. It is with great pride that we are ASAS Foundation 1908 Society members. Together, we can share the journey and shape the future."

"Give Today to Shape the Future of Animal Science"

Ellen Davis, Ph.D.
"The ASAS Foundation is one of the charitable organizations I proudly support. Supporting a thriving applied science society that acts as a hub for scientific knowledge exchange in the animal agriculture industry is a meaningful way to support a society that has supported me.
ASAS Foundation's dedication to nurturing young scientists and enhancing conferences with cutting-edge symposia on animal production and companion animals ensures that animal science stays ahead of the curve in navigating the challenges of our evolving world. ASAS plays a vital role in bridging the gap between science and practical application in the animal agriculture sector – which is the invaluable benefit I derive from ASAS.
I encourage you to join me as an ASAS Foundation Partner and give today as we shape the future of animal science!"
Ellen Davis, Ph.D. | Monogastric Technical Innovation Lead | Land O'Lakes
