IMPACT: Undergraduate and Graduate Students
"I am truly honored to receive the 2025 Dr. Gary Allee Graduate Student Travel Award! This award allowed me to attend the conference, providing a valuable opportunity to share our research and explore the work of many other researchers. I would like to express my deep gratitude to the ASAS Foundation for making this possible. Additionally, I believe this achievement is not mine alone but the result of the collective efforts of my fellow Kim Lab members and my mentor, Dr. Sung Woo Kim. Go Pack!" Hyunjun Choi |Ph.D. Candidate, Animal Science | North Carolina State University | 2025
IMPACT: Early Career Animal Scientists
"I am deeply honored to be the 2025 recipient of the Stahly/Peo Outstanding Graduate Student in Swine Nutrition Award. This prestigious recognition of my research during graduate school is incredibly meaningful to me. I am grateful for this opportunity and for the unwavering support I have received throughout my professional journey." Larissa Becker, Ph.D. | Kansas State University | Fall 2024
IMPACT: Professional Member
"I am extremely humbled to receive the 2025 American Society of Animal Science Animal Physiology and Endocrinology Award. As I look at the list of the individuals who have received this award, they are truly the pioneers in the field and the foundation on which all of our work is built upon. Being selected for this award carries profound significance to me as it acknowledges that the work we have been doing is valued and impactful to the field of reproductive physiology. Adding further significance to this award is the fact that I have seen several of my mentors receive this award, and the fact that it is sponsored by the James W. Lauderdale Appreciation Club. I have had the honor of interacting with Dr. Lauderdale and learning from his unique perspective on how our research needs to interact with the industry, which has had a very large impact on my career." George Perry, Ph.D. | Research Professor | Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center in Overton

"
"It is an immense honor to have been named the 2025 recipient of the 2025 Armstrong Leadership Award. I have always considered the American Society of Animal Science to be my "home" society, and this is where I was first able to stretch and develop my leadership skills in a professional organization. I look forward to my continued service in the Society; it's always exciting that I can give back to the organization that built me." Brandon Smith, Ph.D. | Assistant Professor | Animal Sciences | Auburn University
From an ASAS Member - "Why I Give"
"I (faintly) remember attending my first ASAS national and sectional meetings. Even with the free use of a university vehicle and with five graduate students piled in one hotel room, the expense was a strain on a graduate student’s limited budget. That is why I support ASAS Foundation's Fellows Club and the Students and Young Animal Scientist Fund; to honor exceptional early career animal scientists and to help graduate students cover their travel expenses to national and sectional meetings. It brings me great fulfillment to give back and aid these students in advancing their careers.
I invite you to join me in supporting both current and future animal scientists, so they can look back on their ASAS experiences, as we do, with positivity and maybe even a few laughs along the way."
N. Andy Cole, PhD, PAS, ACAN | Retired | USDA-ARS | Research Animal Scientist/Research Leader
P.S. - The Fellows Club is not just for ASAS Fellows! It's a fund for those of us who want to help recognize and celebrate early-career animal scientists and their research.
