Ermias Kebreab, American Feed Industry Association Award in Ruminant Nutrition Research

Dr. Ermias Kebreab received B.S. degree from University of Asmara in 1987. He earned his MS and doctoral degree from the University of Reading, UK in 1989 and 1998, respectively. Dr Kebreab worked as post-doctoral fellow, adjunct, and associate professor of nutrition modeling at Universities in England and Canada. He joined the faculty of UC Davis in 2009 as professor of Animal Science establishing a nutrition modeling laboratory. During the last 10 years, Dr. Kebreab has authored 111 peer-reviewed manuscripts, 34 book chapters, over 150 abstracts, and has been principal investigator for grants exceeding $8,000,000. He made major contribution on quantification of greenhouse gas emissions from ruminants. He serves on national and international scientific committees, has been an invited speaker for scientific and industry conferences in several countries on five contents, and has served as the principal advisor for more than 20 M.S., PhD, and post-doctoral programs.
