2026-2027 ASAS National Election

Election nominations will close on March 5, 2026 at 3:00 PM CST.

The call for nominations currently includes the following positions:

  • President-Elect
    • Length of term: One year (followed by a year as President and a year as Past-President – three year commitment)
      Timeline:
    • Begin service at end of annual business meeting and end service one year hence when assuming responsibilities as President at Annual Board meeting in July.
    • Number of meetings: 2 board meetings (summer ASAS meeting and winter board meeting) and at least 20 conference calls throughout the year. Additional travel to represent ASAS is also required.
    • Committees: Executive Committee, Finance Committee, Publications Committee and Membership Committee
    • Reports: Committee structure for coming year, Presents President’s Plan before Presidential Year
      Additional Requirements: Please note the nominating committee generally requires previous ASAS
    • Board experience to be considered for this position.
  • Director-at-Large (three positions filled)
    • Length of term: Three years
    • Timeline: Begin service at end of annual business meeting and end service three years hence.
    • Number of meetings: 2 board meetings (summer ASAS meeting and winter board meeting) and at least 20 conference calls throughout the year.
    • Committees: Varies by role
    • Reports: Varies by role
  • Northeast Director
    • Length of term: Three years
    • Timeline: Begin service at end of annual business meeting and end service three years hence.
    • Number of meetings: 2 board meetings (summer ASAS meeting and winter board meeting) and at least 20 conference calls throughout the year.
    • Role: Voice/representative for the Northeast area ASAS members
    • Committees: Serve on one or more committees.
  • National Graduate Student Director:
    • Length of term: Two years
    • Timeline: Begin service at end of annual business meeting and end service two years hence.
    • Number of meetings: 2 board meetings (summer ASAS meeting and winter board meeting) and at least 20 conference calls throughout the year.
    • Requirements: Current graduate student
