Bryon Wiegand, Distinguished Teacher Award

Sponsored by Land O'Lakes, Purina Mills LLC Dr. Bryon Wiegand, native of Cairo, Mo, is an Associate Professor of Animal Science at the University of Missouri. Before becoming a faculty member at the University of Missouri in 2007, Dr. Wiegand was a teaching/research faculty member in the Department of Agriculture at Illinois State University for seven years. Between ISU and MU, Dr. Wiegand has taught 14 different courses. Dr. Wiegand’s research is focused on meat science/muscle biology which undergraduates are actively involved with conducting experiments. Dr. Wiegand has received numerous teaching awards, most recently receiving the Midwest Section ASAS 2009 Outstanding Teacher Award and University of Missouri 2011 Provost’s Junior Faculty Teaching Award.
