Mike D. Tokach, American Feed Industry Association Award in Nonruminant Nutrition Research

Dr. Mike Tokach was born in Bismarck, North Dakota, and was raised on a 4th generation diversified family farm. He graduated from North Dakota State University in 1986 and obtained his M.S. from Kansas State University in 1988. After completing his Ph.D. in Swine Nutrition at the University of Minnesota in 1991, he joined the staff at Kansas State University. In 2013, Mike was promoted to University Distinguished Professor; the highest rank the university bestows its faculty. His leadership is central to the workings of a progressive swine nutrition research team. As a result of his research, Mike has co-authored over 235 refereed journal articles, 562 abstracts, 7 book chapters, and has generated over 6.9 million dollars in grants to support his research. He also has generated over 3.9 million dollars in donations to the KSU Research Foundation to support new construction at the KSU Swine Research Center. He and his wife Lisa, have three children, Sage, Rogan, and Fiona.
