Over the course of more than 50 years, his pioneering research significantly advanced the understanding of reproductive physiology in sheep and cattle, encompassing uterine function, hormone signaling, and oxytocin production. He also contributed to studies on ram sexual behavior and mink reproductive biology.
A charter member of the Society for the Study of Reproduction, Dr. Stormshak has served the society in numerous leadership roles and as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Animal Science. He has mentored generations of students who went on to influential careers in research, veterinary medicine, and industry. Among his many honors are the ASAS Animal Physiology and Endocrinology Award and recognition as an ASAS Fellow.
Beloved for his insight, collegiality, and humor, Dr. Stormshak continues to inspire colleagues and students in reproductive biology worldwide.
Dr. Stormshak and his wife, Alice, have proudly established the Stormshak Innovations in Reproductive Biology Award to provide an annual award to one recipient who has been an ASAS member for five or more years, in recognition of the individual's exceptional and innovative research in the field of reproductive biology in domestic animals.
Please join us as an ASAS Foundation partner and support the Stormshak Innovations in Reproductive Biology Award.
The first award is anticipated to be given July, 2026 at the ASAS/CSAS Annua Meeting.
