International attendees traveling to the United States should begin reviewing travel and visa requirements as early as possible. Requirements vary depending on your country of citizenship, purpose of travel, and other individual circumstances.
✈️ Do I Need a Visa?
Some international travelers may be eligible to visit the United States for 90 days or less through the U.S. Visa Waiver Program (VWP) with an approved Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA).
Travelers who are not eligible for the Visa Waiver Program may need to apply for a visitor visa. Attendance at a scientific, educational, professional, or business conference is generally an allowable activity for a B-1 business visitor.

ASAS can provide a letter of invitation/attendance once your meeting registration has been received.
To request a letter, please email Ethanc@ASAS.org and include:
- Full name
- Institution
- Address
- Country
- Passport number
- Date of birth
- Nationality

Visa application and interview timelines can vary by location and individual circumstances. We strongly encourage international attendees to begin the process as early as possible.
Please note: An invitation letter from ASAS does not guarantee that a visa will be issued. Visa decisions are made solely by the appropriate U.S. government authorities.
