Jeff Carroll, Distinguished Service Award

Dr. Jeff Carroll completed his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in Animal Science from Texas A&M in 1991, 1993, and 1996, respectively. Upon completing his Ph.D., he joined the USDA-ARS Animal Physiology Research Unit in Columbia, MO, for eight years. He moved to Lubbock, TX, in 2004, where he now serves as the Research Leader for ARS Livestock Issues Research Unit. His work focuses on improving livestock performance and well-being by elucidating interactions between growth, stress, nutrition, and immune regulation. His research program has benefitted from his close relations and collaborations with scientists from industry and from numerous universities. Dr. Carroll has served on 47 M.S./Ph.D. graduate committees and currently holds adjunct professor/graduate faculty appointments at nine universities. He has authored/co-authored 168 scientific journal articles, six book chapters, 354 abstracts, and 89 technical articles. He has received 113 invitations to present his research, including 18 international presentations.
