Philipe Moriel, Young Scientist Award

Dr. Philipe Moriel is as an Assistant Professor at the Range Cattle Research & Education Center, University of Florida. Dr. Moriel earned his Bachelor of Animal Science in 2008 from São Paulo State University, Brazil, MS degree in Animal and Veterinary Sciences in 2010 from University of Wyoming, and Ph.D. degree in Ruminant Nutrition in 2013 from the University of Florida. Dr. Moriel worked as an Assistant Professor at North Carolina  State University from October 2013 to May 2016. Dr. Moriel’s research program focuses on pre- and post-weaning nutritional strategies for stressed beef calves, fetal-programming effects on Bos indicus-influenced cattle, and early-postnatal nutritional modulation of calf metabolism and subsequent impacts on growth, health, and reproductive success. Dr. Moriel has published 53 peer-reviewed articles (with an additional six in press), 51 abstracts, and has secured a total of $2,500,775 as PI and Co-PI from federal agencies, industries, and commodity groups.
