Elizabeth Karcher, Outstanding Young Teacher Award

Dr. Elizabeth Karcher is an Assistant Professor and the Undergraduate Programs Coordinator for the Department of Animal Sciences at Purdue University. She holds degrees from the Pennsylvania State University, Purdue University, and Iowa State University. She joined Purdue faculty in August 2016 after eight years at Michigan State University. She specializes in undergraduate education and advising. Dr. Karcher has taught a variety of courses, including mammary physiology, animal health, and dairy management. She developed a study abroad program focused on dairy management to the Netherlands and a program on sustainable agriculture to Vietnam. At MSU, she advised the Dairy Club and the Animal Science Undergraduate Research Student Association. She received the NACTA Teacher Fellow Award (2014), the MSU College of Agricultural and Natural Resources (CANR) Award for Distinguished Service in Study Abroad (2014), and the MSU CANR Excellence in Teaching, New Teacher Award (2012). Dr. Karcher and her husband, Darrin, have three daughters and twin sons.
